Yup, it's an "homage" to the Fifty Fathoms, and yup, it's not as good as the original. But—it carries on the tradition of being a tool watch that the people who need it can actually afford. There was a time when a Rolex or Blancpain wasn't an aspirational luxury, but a tool to do a job, and with 150m of water resistance and a working timer bezel, this one can do the job for sure.

That said, those are heirloom watches. The kind of thing you pass down, care for, cherish, and keep. The Spinnaker, on the other hand, is more of a day-to-day, wear it and don't care it, kind of watch. While the Miyota movement is relatively solid (especially with regular maintenance), this isn't something you'll pass down to the kiddos unless there's some stories attached to it as well.
