This watch is dripping with history. Over 100 years ago, famed jeweler Louis Cartier made his buddy, aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, the world's first wristwatch to assist in his hot air ballooning. Pocket watches were put on blast, and the wristwatch (and pilot's watch!) was born. Fast-forward to now and Cartier still makes the Santos and charges Cartier prices for it. Still, there's a lot of class and sophistication that comes from wearing one of these over the run-of-the-mill Subs and Speedys, and a Cartier feels easier to justify a high price point.
